Haru looked at the group of laughing students. He smirked slightly at his cousin's bright red blush. Poor Kyo hated getting a lot of attention. Especially when that attention was to make fun of him. Haru thought back on what had caused the others to laugh so hard.

-- Flashback --

"Hello, Hatsuha-" Tohru was cut off when she accidentally bumped into Kyo, turning him into his cat form. Again. Kyo started to run away when Haru grabbed him. Thankfully, no one had seen the transformation. That was always a problem at this school. They couldn't go anywhere without the Yuki fanclub following them around. Haru began to unconsciously pet Kyo, making the cat-boy purr. Then Kyo changed back. Before anyone could react, a group of guys turned that corner and saw a very naked Kyo in Haru's arms.

--End Flashback--

That night, Haru followed the others home. He wanted to apologize to Kyo, but the older boy wouldn't even look at him. At dinner, Shigure make a comment on what had happened at school earlier.

"How do you find out about this stuff? Is the school bugged or something?"

Shigure just smiled mysteriously in response to Hatsuharu's question. Black Haru then smacked him in the back of the head as Kyo stormed out of the room. Tohru immediately jumped up to go after him, but Haru told her he would go instead. His reasoning? "No reason for you to interrupt your meal."

Haru climbed the ladder onto the roof. When he got up there, he kicked the ladder to the floor. < Can't let him go down before we get a chance to talk > he thought. "Kyo?" Kyo looked up at the sound of his name. He glared when he saw that it was Haru and then headed for the ladder, only to find that it had been knocked over.

"Kyo, I'm sorry. I guess I shouldn't have picked you up, but I really thought that you would take longer than that to change back."

"I'm not mad about that." Haru looked at Kyo in curiosity, wondering what he meant. Kyo saw that look and elaborated. "Why didn't you tell them that it wasn't like that. We're not together and you know they don't believe me. Why couldn't you deny it?"

Haru looked at the ground as if searching for answers. "Oh. Because, well . . . I wouldn't mind being together. Like that."

Kyo was shocked. "But, what about Yuki?"

"Don't get me wrong. I still love Yuki and all, but we both know he prefers Tohru Honda to everyone. And, I do like you, I just thought I had a better chance with Yuki is all."

"So, do you want to . . . do something tomorrow?"

Kyo looked at his cousin in shock. < Is he asking to . . . > "Like what?"

"Dinner maybe. A movie?"

"I like you. The catch is that they'll be talking even more."

"I guess this'll give them something to talk about."
